Choice 1: 1-12 Introduction and Overview
- As I was reading over the chapter headings, I realized a common theme, which is the cost of discipleship. It is not easy to be a follower of Christ, both in New Testament times, as well as in 2012. We may not be killed for our beliefs today, but I can testify, that as a Latter-Day Saint, I have learned the hard way that being "killed" emotionally for what you believe in, can be just as bad as being killed physically. Other themes that I found in the chapter headings are repentance, the restored gospel will come, saints unite, and the gospel is preached.
- While all these things were going on, Peter was very busy himself. Here is a list of his activities listed in the chapter headings:
- Peter testifies of Christ often
- Peter preaches repentance
- Peter heals a man
- Peter is arrested
- Peter is arrested again
- Peter goes to Sumaria to get the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands
- Peter takes the gospel to the gentiles
- Peter is freed from prison by an Angel
